Year End Appeal
Look at What God is Doing at St. James
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
2 Corinthians 9:7
St. James is a growing community, alive in Christ, carrying on the tradition of sharing His hope and peace with all of Chicago.
In 1871 St. James provided refuge for thousands of Chicagoans who lost everything in the great re. While many organizations and churches have come and gone by God’s grace we are still providing the refuge of Christ to Chicagoans through our various ministries including our outstanding school. God loves Chicago. Christ died and rose for Chicago. Through St. James He brings people into a city within a city where sins are forgiven, the broken are healed, and a vision of hope is restored!
This past year we have witnessed God at work among us as our school has grown in excellence and in numbers. New services meant to care for those in need have begun such as our student’s participation in the local food bank and our women’s network’s outreach to single moms needing a helping hand and a listening ear. We have multiplied our bible study opportunities and have begun an engaging Sunday school program for kids so that all may grow in their knowledge of our loving God. And of course you have probably seen the construction throughout our campus as we work to bring our buildings up to date in order to serve the St. James community and our neighbors!
I am confident in the future of St. James for many reasons. We have extraordinary resources of talented men and women. We have a fantastic history of sharing the Gospel with the city. But I am mostly confident in our future because we have an amazing God who has a perfect track record of changing people’s lives through His life giving Word!
How is God calling you to participate in His service to Chicago through St. James?
In Christ, Pastor Hess
What is the Goal of the Year End Appeal?
We have set a goal of $100,000. In fact, the value of tuition aid offered is much higher than that. When you generously support this effort, you directly impact the lives of others.
How much should I give?
You should determine your gift on the basis of prayer and reflection upon the blessings God has provided to you to use to His glory. Every gift is a personal decision and should be determined with a joyful heart that you are supporting the various ministries at St. James.
Where should I send my pledge/gift?
Send your check or order money payable to St. James Lutheran Church and School (with Year End Appeal in the memo) to:

Can a donor make a stock gift?
Yes, stock is a convenient way of giving. Many donors make donations with gifts of appreciated securities, thereby enjoying additional tax savings. If a donor is considering a transfer of stock, they should call Martha Bulin at 773.525-4990 for specific instructions.
