Admissions Process

You want your child to think critically, solve real world problems and creatively express himself while showing love for his neighbors.

We do too.

School Tours
If you are interested in St. James Lutheran School, we encourage you to come in for a tour. This meeting and tour of the school is an important element of matching St. James to future members of our community. Tours typically last one hour. Prospective students are welcome to attend, but are not required to. Please call Sue Lichner at 773.525.4990 to schedule an appointment or fill out the online form.
Applying to St. James
Applications for new student admissions are available. To be considered for admission we require the following:
01 Application
Each prospective student must fill out an admissions application. You will receive a paper copy during your tour, or you can request one from the office. Alternatively, you can fill out our online application, which can be found here.
02 Birth Certificate
A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate must accompany the application. We are happy to make a photo copy of the original in the office.
03 Report Card
A copy of the most recent report card is required for students applying to grades 1-8. Additionally, parents will be contacted to schedule a placement test once the application is received.
04 Deposit
A $400 deposit is required for each applicant. The deposit will be applied to tuition when a student is accepted to a program, returned if a child is not accepted and forfeited if acceptance is declined for any reason.  To pay the tuition by credit card, call the school office at 773-525-4990
St. James Lutheran School enrollment is open to students of any race, color and ethnic or national origin.  Acceptance to a class is determined by the Admission Committee on the basis of the optimum class profile.  Members of the St. James fellowship, returning students and siblings of current students are given priority in the admission process. Admissions is subject to St. James being able to meet the educational needs of a student.

Funding a quality education requires more than just tuition; it requires the support and generosity of the whole community.
