Educating the whole child
We practice Christ’s love for everyone-teaching our students how to love all.
We provide a comprehensive and rigorous program that encourages each student to reach their fullest potential.
We foster a community where all students lead through their God-given talents and gifts.
Our educational programs
Every student at St. James is academically challenged in order to reach their fullest potential.
Research shows that children are born learning, and that their early years impact the success they have later in school. We focus on student inquiry to guide instruction, because the more a child is invested in learning, the greater their success.
Developing their reading, writing, and mathematical skills, our students investigate, describe, measure, and communicate their applied classroom findings about the world, helping them grow as independent learners and effective team players.
Departmentalized instruction, student accountability, and project-based group work are all part of our middle school learning process. Ultimately, our graduates are able to organize and interpret information, make important decisions, and confidently continue their education at Chicago’s premier high schools.
I have been attending St. James school for seven years. It’s been an amazing school. I love the nice and kind teachers. Every time I go in the St. James’ doors I feel so safe. I will always love St. James.
Harrison, Fifth Grade
Not only has St. James laid the groundwork for my schooling through high school at Lincoln Park, undergrad at Loyola University Chicago, and grad school at the School of the Art Institute; it has also built a family for me through the people that I met that are still so important in my life today.
Lawren, Class of 2001
When I think of St. James, I think of caring. I think of love. The teachers take the approach of treating each child separately, really nurturing them, giving them a foundation of love first.
